![]() Sammie Lee Thomason, 93 years old, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2020. Born in Saginaw, Texas to Raleigh & Ruby Thomason on October 1, 1927, he lived his life on Northside of Fort Worth where he bought and sold livestock in the old Cow-Town Stockyards. He rode a horse down Main St. when it was a dirt road. He was a professional horse trainer and raced his own horses. His horse, Lampass Kidd, won the Delta Downs on December 18, 1993. Sam also won an $8,000 Purse for his horse, Miss Millie on April 20, 1978. His greatest winning horse race was for a horse named, “Come-on-Jeannie” named after his wife, Jean. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Married for 51 years, his wife, Jean passed away in 2014. He is survived by two sisters, Helen and Kay; a daughter, Kathy; two granddaughters, Raquel and Rebecca; five great grandchildren, Gavin, Savanah, Wesley, Cody and Katelyn as well as cousins, Ronnie & Maria and Donnie & Debbie; nieces, Kandiss and Carla. Sam’s remaining special friends are Henry & Pat Withee and Mike Crow and wife. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 12 noon at Saginaw Park Baptist Church, 512 S Blue Mound Rd., Fort Worth, Tx 76131; Pastor Dennis Hudson officiating.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I always loved seeing Sammy around Trinity Meadows. He always had a smile and a kind word. Years later I’d see him at Lone Star with his racing form. He always had a sparkle in his eyes. He loved his horses. Prayers for the family.
