![]() James P. Schwend and Betty J. Kinnibrugh-Schwend were called to Heaven to be with God on December 20, 2022 and later Betty on February 11, 2023. James was born in Wichita Falls, Texas to James Gordan Schwend and Thalia Irene Wolfe-Schwend on December 4, 1942. He lived and went to school in Wichita Falls, before enlisting in the US Army. After serving in the US Army, he went on to attend college where he attained a degree in Civil Engineering. In between that time, he met and later married the love of his life of 56 years, Betty Jo Kinnibrugh-Schwend. Betty was born in Benjamin, Texas to Orville Roland Kinnibrugh and Joardis Gray-Kinnibrugh on July 27, 1944. She grew up and went to school in Vera, Texas before attending college at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, where she met and fell in love with James. They would later get married before moving to Fort Worth, Texas. Once settled in Fort Worth, they decided to start a family and get involved in their community. Both loved to worship the lord and after visiting a couple churches, the fell in love with the lords work at North Richland Hills Baptist Church, where they were members 30 years. James was an active leader in many aspects of church, helping Betty with teaching Sunday school, but his passion was helping with the Royal Ambassadors, a youth program to teach kids how to become leaders for Christ. Betty’s commitment to the lord involved teaching Sunday school and later being one of the co-founders of the church pre-school program, which still exist today. In the 1990’s, God had different plans for Betty, so the pre-school program that she started at church was extended to the home where Betty and James (and her daughter Scherry), reached out to many children throughout the community. Outside of the lord’s work, James and Betty were loving parents and grandparents. They both are survived by their children, Scherry E. Schwend-Creech (and husband Wylie), James R. Schwend (and wife Emily), Stephen W. Schwend, and grandchildren, Justin, Sarah, Jonathan and lastly Ryker. Funeral Services will be held at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas on Friday, March 10th at 1:00 pm.

James Schwend and family, condolences from the Ramos family. May God comfort your family and grace you with his peace. I did not have the pleasure of meeting your parents, but their legacy is a tribute to the love for the Lord! I am grateful that my nephew Ryker experienced their love and caring guidance. May their memories be a lasting comfort and encouragement. Blessings to each of you in the Love of the Lord.
