As a child David grew up with a strong Christian background. He was saved and baptized at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Greenwood, Mississippi in 1973 during the pastorship of Reverend L. J. Young and remained a steadfast member until relocating with his family to Irving, TX where he joined the Pioneer Drive Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Bobby Joe Raper.

He studied Computer Technology at Mississippi Delta Community College in Moorhead, Mississippi. Upon his return to Greenwood, he became employed with the Greenwood-Leflore Hospital in the IT Department as a Computer Technician. A few years later, David again relocated with his family, a lovely wife and four beautiful children to Irving, Texas where he worked at Allstate Insurance Agency for a brief time before continuing his career at Baylor Medical Center at Irving as a Computer Technician and later climbing the corporate ladder to become Senior Computer Technology Consultant at Baylor Heart Hospital in Plano, Texas.
David was a loving and caring father to each of his four children, Erich, Jennifer, Michael and Antonio and a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Shirley for 29 blissful years. He was attentive and a tower of strength, courage and determination to his family.
David's kind, gentle, quiet and harmonious spirit made him the joy of all who came in contact with him; family, friends as well as those just passing by his way. David possessed a phenomenal memory and his greetings, and conversations were sure to always make you smile.
