PictureKaren Jo Tamez
Karen Jo Tamez, age 70, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2025. Born on August 26, 1954, to Gilda and Leland Hall, Karen was raised in Premont, Texas, alongside her beloved siblings Truman, Gary, Bill, Diane, and Kathy.  In the winter of 1973, Karen married Jose Tamez, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and dedication.  They were blessed with three children: Gilda in 1978, Monica in 1982, and Marcus in 1985.  Karen’s greatest joy was being a mother, and her children were the heart of her world.
She was devoted to her family and would do anything for them.  Though life presented many challenges, she faced each one with strength, grace, and a heart full of love.  She was known for her delicious homemade pastries, which will be fondly remembered by all who tasted them.  A talented artist, Karen generously shared her paintings with friends and family.  She also had a passion for writing poetry and was an avid reader, capable of finishing a 500-page book in a single day. Her kind and generous spirit touched many lives.  Karen led by example, teaching those around her to appreciate life’s blessings and to cherish loved ones.  She made friends wherever she went and was deeply loved in return.
Her faith was an important part of her life.  She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1983 and remained faithful to her beliefs.  She found comfort in the resurrection hope and trusted that one day she would be reunited with those she loved.  Although she did not want to leave her family behind, she held fast to the promise of seeing them again.

Karen was preceded in death by her beloved son, Marcus Tamez, her mother Gilda Rowe, and her father Leland Hall.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jose Tamez; her daughters, Monica Tamez and Gilda Seymour; her cherished grandchildren: Brendon, Brycen, and Isabella Reder, Emery Nance, Lilia Park-Tamez, and Jacey Park and her siblings, Truman Hall, Gary Hall, Bill Hall, Diann Fondren and Kathy Wehmeir-Davis.

Our family would like to express heartfelt thanks to everyone who was part of Karen’s life—those who prayed for her, asked about her, visited her, and loved her.  Your kindness and support meant the world to her and to us.  Karen will be deeply missed, but she lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.  We look forward to the day when we can embrace her once again. Revelation 21:3,4

Memorial service will be held on August 23rd at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on 2049 Willis Ln. Keller, Tx., 76248 at 3pm.  Please send any flowers or donations for the service to 5564 Kilmer Drive North Richland Hills, TX 76180.
